About Polokwane

Situated on the Great North road in the heart of the Limpopo Province, Polokwane is the gateway to the neighbouring countries of Zimbabwe, Botswana and Mozambique. To the east of Polokwane is the Kruger National Park and the scenic Magoebaskloof. There are a number of game reserves close to the city and Polokwane is regarded as one of the top hunting regions in South Africa.

Polokwane (formerly Pietersburg) is the commercial and administrative hub of Limpopo province. The city and its surrounding areas boast the world’s largest reserves of platinum metals, chrome and vanadium, as well as copper, nickel, iron ore and titanium. Polokwane is also one of South Africa’s richest agricultural regions, with vegetables being the most significant crop.

Polokwane, which is on a plateau at 1280m above sea level, enjoys a mild climate with almost year-round sunshine.
