The Northern Cape is a large, dry, sparsely populated region with a magic all of its own.The Northern Cape includes the western, Namaqualand coast, famous for its spectacular daisies, the Kalahari Gemsbok National Park, the Augrabies Falls, the diamond areas of Kimberley and Alexander Bay and the big sheep ranches of the southern Karoo region. South Africa's major river, the Orange River flows through the Northern Cape providing irrigation for the vineyards of the Green Kalahari.

The capital city of the Northern Cape is Kimberley and other Northern Cape towns include Upington, Colesburg, De Aar, Kuruman, Prieska, Springbok and Victoria West.
